Hi all
I've wanted to make a topper tank.
My plan is to velcro the 2 20 gallon longs together. Problem is it would be about 3 feet down from top to bottom to daily access the tank.
Exoterra front opens are spendy. I'm trying to remove the front glass to insert glass and make a hindge.
I've successfully after too much effort removed the plastic trims intact to put back on later.
The problem is I cant separate the glass. It's an aquen tank and its built so well with the glass touching glass. It's almost as if they dont want it to be disassembled... there is no gap between the panels at all. I've scraped. Tried several thin utility knives. As I push into the in theory gap it micro crips and the glass wont move. I tried wd40 and goo gone and no help. Tried floss and no way to move it.
Any help or ideas on stubborn glass?

Re: How to remove aquarium glass intact
Well I got it!
Used 15lb monoline fishing line. The line would snap every inch of progress. Used about 2 feet. The plastic line worked great. It could squish flat to allow it through the ultra thin space between the glass. Once we got the sides off it was simple to slowly pull the pane down along the bottom hindge.
Fishing line way better than any rigid metal tool I tried. I was about ready to break the pane to get it out. Good luck diy crabbers
