Tank topper lids

Post by Nicole00 » Sat Jan 23, 2021 5:08 pm

I have a 20gal and a 10 and I’m wanting to connect them through a tank topper. I was wondering for those who have done this or something similar how did you make your lids for the parts of the tank that wont be covered by the topper?

It really depends on your tank setups. if you don't use heat lamps then it one way to do it is to just put the 10 on top then use saran wrap, foil, or boxing tape as the lid to the other side (that's what I did to make a topper for my 30 gallon when I still used that). The only problem is then making a way to open it to change food/water. The 10 gallon I was putting on top was front opening so I didn't have to worry about that. I have also heard of people cutting a piece of plastic to fit as a lid or even just straight up sawing the original lid in half. Just do whatever seems to work best for you.
