55 gallon tank lid?

Post by Pumpkincrab » Wed Nov 24, 2021 9:54 pm

Hi guys,
So I'm planning to upgrade the crabs to a 55 in the next few months, and I've started planning things out.
On Petco the lid is somewhere around $45, I believe, and I don't believe the dimensions match either.
Is there a way to make my own lid?
Thank you!

Hey there!

I have a 55 gal tank and got my glass lid from That Fish Place/That Pet Place. 55 gals have a center brace so there will be 2 lids in this set:

https://www.thatpetplace.com/marineland ... -48in-13in

The best thing to do is get the tank first. While there are general measurements for glass aquariums, dimensions can differ slightly depending on the manufacturer. Once you have your tank, get the measurements, then you can order/buy the lid. Hope this helps!

Yep. Like CL77 said, get the tank first. Marineland brand tanks use lids that are slightly different than Aqueon tanks. You can mix/match, but fitment is better if you stick with the same brand. A pair of glass tops will run you a solid $40 these days. DIY solution are as big as your imagination.
Two 29gals. 3 PPs in each.
~200gal of fish tanks. Mostly planted community tanks.
Multiple kiddos, doggies and kitties.

Crabs are so picky lol! Wonder if they're that picky in the wild haha.
