Looking 4 review on The Natural Hermit Crab Source book

Post by Guest » Sun Mar 05, 2006 6:29 pm

Hi,

Anyone have The Natural Hermit Crab Source Book by Stacey Arenella and Summer Michaelson?

Looking for review on it. I was wondering if it had more information that isn't found here? If it is worth it to buy a copy or if I can get more info at this site.

Thanks,

I have it, it's AWESOME!!! Highly recommend it. It's an easy, fun read, good insight into the biology of crabs, conservation, species info, recipes. Definitely worth it, best one on HCs I have ever read. I still refer back to it, and since all the species typically found in the US are on the cover and back cover, in color, I often take it when I'm species hunting so I can show a pet store rep what I'm looking for. It's very much in line with the opinions of crabbers on the site, and yet it gives options on how to do things and the pros and cons so you can make up your own mind.

I went to Borders today to try to order it. It's not carried by their regular suppliers so she said it may take longer to get it. I hope they can.

I originally came across it from www.hermit-crab.com which I now understand that it is Christa's (HCA's president) site. Please correct me if I am wrong. Her site is the first site I found that gave what I thought was accurate information. The other sites seemed to be lacking something. That is why I am interested in gettting the book but like most of you I don't want to waste my hermie money on a $15 book that just repeats information I already know. So thank you very much guys for letting me know that the book is worth it. I just hope Borders can get it for me so I can use my gift certificate. If not I'll have to wait ... unless someone on ebay taking paypal happens to be selling it. I've only had these guys since Feb 9 and my hubby already thinks I am crab obsessed!

I am interested in the "biology of crabs, conservation, species info, recipes" so I am going to do my best to get it. The "natural" part draws me to it. I used to keep White's tree frogs in my teen and early 20's so I know a lot of the books on pet care are truely lacking. I am so thankful to you guys for reviewing this for me.

Any other view/comments still welcome.
