Do they make an ESU bi light 2 for a 30'' tank?

Post by Guest » Fri May 26, 2006 12:53 pm

in my search for an ESU bi light 2, i found that they don't make a 30 inch bi light 2 for my 25 gallon tank. (am i right in this finding? maybe i just haven't come across it yet).

i want the bi light 2 because i like the idea of having the two seperate cords and not having to unscrew a lightbulb when i want to switch from day to night. (also, am i right about this too? that you have to unscrew one of the lightbulbs when you want to go from the dayglo to the nightglo if you are using just the bi light system?) this is all new to me.

And do I NEED to get a 30 inch long fixture just because my tank is 30 inches long or is it ok to go for the 24 inch? will it make a difference in the amount of heat in the tank?

right now i have only a flourescent light but that does nothing for the heating. but i plan on keeping it on top of the tank with the ESU fixture (sorta like my own combo light ...)

Can someone help?

Also, where did you buy your ESU fixture and bulbs? I'm looking to buy online.

I too love the bi-light... :)

I have it for my 20g and will be using it on my 55g. It does not cover the ENTIRE tank, but it holds up to 80 watts so I see no need to add more light when that's MORE then my tanks can handle anyway. Does that make sense?

Sorry this is late:
They do not make the bi-light 2 for 30" tanks, you would have to get the Tri-Light which is the same thing but the second cord has 2 sockets for 2 bulbs. The price is not bad either. It is $30 at herpsupplies.com and shipping is usually less than $10 from them.
I have the Tri light for my 20L and the BI light 2 for my 10g and they are exactly the same except that one extra socket and length. I'd recommend getting the one appropriate for your tank because it will be easier to keep your humidity in/keep the top covered, and they will have more space to get away from the heat if its to hot. Both of those models have 2 cords, and you can use dual timers for your lighting. The original bi light is only one cord.
Hope that helps!
