bridge?

Post by Guest » Sun Aug 27, 2006 3:37 am

Anyone built a bridge before? I have the top all worked out. i'm going to use a bamboo placemat but i have no idea how i am going to get the curve other than wire. I need it to be just a frame so that i can put it over the food area.
Suggestions are very welcome.
Thanks

How about attaching it to a modified tupperware plastic box? Say cut the long sides off, leaving the bottom and short sides?

I can't think of anything else to use that wouldn't mold when stuck in the sand.

Post pictures when you finish so we can all see!!

Beware of the bamboo placemat!! I had one going from my 2nd level over to my plastic soap dish moss pit, and it molded after 2 days! I mean totally COVERED!

Now, I use a wooden ladder that my mom had for her budgies that she never used, and I wove some untreated nylon roap that I dipped in boiling dechlorinated hot salt water after washing it thoroughly with dechlorinated tap water. I also washed the wooden ladder in dechlorinated salt water, and it hasn't molded at all.

You can see an example here

Note that the pictures are from my old 10 gallon tank, but I still use the bridge in my new 20 gallon tank.

I guess if you want a bridge that just goes over the food dish, you can maybe find a plastic 3 sides ladder, or maybe something similar to that.

You can also improvise and use things like large rocks or shells that have been boiled, and link a bridge between the two rocks, resting on top.

I bought one of those bamboo placemats too and the tag says not to put it anywhere with high humidity or in water. So I haven't put it in.

Can you use regular bamboo from the dried flower section at craft stores to make things though? Or will that mold too?

found a gr8 frame. plastic bucket handles. perfect curve. Waiting fo the glue to dry. I'll take some pics in the tat and out
looks so cool. Hope they like it

The bamboo placemat i have in there already has been in for over a week and hasn't moulded yet, so i'm hoping the bridge wont, if it does its straight out and back to the drawing board.
Thanx for the replies, it was most helpful
