Cheap Background

Post by Guest » Sun Mar 04, 2007 12:39 pm

All you have to do it go to your local crafting or scrapbooking store. Take a look at the different paper designs. At Jo-Ann Fabrics, I found the perfect beach scene on a sheet of scrapbook paper. At $0.25 a piece, it is MUCh cheaper than $3 a foot. Mine cost a total of $.90 (I had a coupon) and the crabs love it. They think it is real. They go to the back of the tank and try and walk to it, only to be surprised that they run into glass! So cheap, yet works great! There are soo many varieties of scrapbook papers. Just remember this idea before you buy any new backgrounds. :)

Oh wow! That sounds great! And here I was fretting over which one I would have to settle on in the pet store  I'm definitely going to make a run to the nearest craft store on my errands this afternoon!

Sure beats my lame background which consists of white paper with images glued on it such as palm trees etc..that I found on the internet and glued on.

BORING! I like your idea much better!

ooh I like this idea. I don't quite follow what you mean by scrap book paper. How would it be big enough to cover the tank?

Most likely, you won't need just one sheet. You'll probably need at least 2. I have a 10g and I had to use 2 pieces, and they overlapped. :)

Do you mean that you don't understand what scrapbook paper is?

It is basically a kind of paper used for scrapbooking that has designs on it. It is larger than normal paper and is more square-shaped than rectangle. You can find this at your local craft store. I found a beach scene and the crabbies love it! It is soooo much cheaper than the pet store! :)

Thats a great idea! :D

Another background that you can put inside your tank...mostly for climbing, is the plastic needlepoint canvas. Youll have to silicon it in, so only put it in when you are doing acomplete tank clean, but my hermies just love crawling all over it!
