Has anyone tried this? I have the Crab Island Heat Mat that I am now using on a small tank but will be transfering my crabs in a bigger tank shortly and got another UTH for the big tank.

Ok I have ordered a Humidifier from Pet Discounters but after reading the DIY threads and the Coffee mug heater addition I reverted back to my Tropical Fish Aquariums and the heaters they have. I was thinking of a submersible Heater inserted into the Moisture canister/Jar. The heaters have thermostats built in so there would be no risk of Boiling the water and you could set them at an ideal temp.

I was at a petco today and they make those mats for large tanks as well. I almost bought one for my 55. but my temps are fine, its my humidity I cant get over 70%

Found this while looking for ideas and it seems easy enough. Just have to check the list of materials required for safety. There's usually an MSDS pdf file listed with materials like quikcrete and there are many types of quikcrete. Unfortunately, my first purchase wasn't the correct type, so back to Home Depot I go! You can let your imagination run wild with this or check out tutorials on youtube for how-to/ideas.

I am close to done on a build right now.
Holy cow, had no idea how long it would take.

It'll be a long post once I share.
Spoiler alert: involves magnets, locking Velcro, and custom acrylic tanks.

5 year home, and already know how I'll eventually expand.

I'm in a 450 square foot apartment and crabs are taking over.

Looking for a lid cure so to speak. I got the thickest acrylic Lowe's had for my lid , had it cut to be 3in from the front so there's a long strip that doubles as a hinged lid, add hinges and a handle and viola but sadly not so simple. Both my cats like to sleep on the lid and now it bowes in the middle causing the corners to lift up which allows heat and moisture to escape. It's only a 20g tall so a 11.5" x 23 3/16th" lid. All ideas welcome!!

P.S. was thinking about an acrylic lid with the braces you see on a mesh lid going all around the edge. It would hold it down and keep it straight.
