Another update. I still need to fix some things. Add more plants, add another second level in the middle, add some nets and stuff for them to climb on. Still a bit to go...

If anyone has ideas, let me know!!

Looks so gooood! I love that double stacked basket action. How do you prevent that from molding or rotting? Are there lights inside? I can't see too well for now

I had the baskets in my other tank and they never moulded. If they do, I'll just replace them. It only cost about $7 for both, so it's not a big deal!

There are lights, yes. I just didn't have them plugged in. I need to get another power bar for this tank, lol. But yes, there's 2 large light hoods across the entire top.

Heat is holding a little low. I'm at about 75. I have the Ultratherm on the tank and a layer of tinfoil over it. My biggest issue is the tank is right up against the wall with only a little space so I'm having a hard time taping everything down back there. I'm going to get a few sheets on insulation board and see if that helps.

Humidity is okay. It's holding at about 90. I made one of these...

http://www.instructables.com/id/The-10- ... -Humifier/

And omg does it work! lol. I don't have my water pools filled yet because all my crabs are currently molting in the 30 gallon but I think my humidity is going to skyrocket when I do. I'll have to control the humidifier and turn it on and off as necessary.

The only thing I'm not happy with in this tank are the pools. I don't want to bury them because it's too hard to get them in and out, even standing on a chair I can barely reach. I want to do them on a second level maybe... I'm not sure how to do that. We'll see I guess.

I also need to make a second level for their food somehow.

So i used kitchen cabinet shelves for levels, but irecently decided it better to turn them upside down so the legs wont sink in. Then the hunt is on for a plastic tray that i can drill holes into, so i can ziptie it to the legs side. Then i have a lid from a plastic box i put all their food on. I plan to drill and ziptie this, too.
I want to do similar things for the shell shop, and will be updating my thread w pics and instructions.

I went to my room to have a nap and noticed my first crab is up from its molt!! He was in his freshwater dish and hid as soon as he saw me!

He seemed pretty pink in colour but he's moving around. I have lots of food out for him (peanuts and sells, bee pollen, a bit of coconut, goji berries, dried fruit and worm castings.

I'm so worried about this little guy! Should I move him to the big new tank or give him a few days to settle from his molt? The tank he's in is still having a lot of trouble holding humidity.

I have a tendacy to be very grabby. One time i let a newly surfaced crab "settle" and He dug back down!!!!!! He proceeded to dig down every day and come up only to eat and drink at night. So i camped out for him one night, and SNATCHED HIM UP as soon as i heard him.
If he can walk and curl up nice and quick, put him in the big tank. Show him A WHOLE NEW WORLD!!!!

Hopefully this is a better pic update since the last was hard to see.

I moved the one crab over and he immediately went to hide. Silly thing. He was gorgeous, so pink and purple.

I don't know if it can be seen, but there's a little spout sticking out in the plants there. I built a humidifier for the tank and the tubing is buried under the sand and comes out there. It constantly pumps humidity into the tank and it works amazingly.

Hard to see, but I've got a full size fake tropical tree in there for crabs to climb.

Omigaaaah i love it! Your DIY hide is soooo on the money!
Are your pools filtered? They look HUGE! How's water changing? I love the way it looks. Like you took a slice of a creek somewhere and just made it your tat. So natural and open. I like your plants. They flow nicely in your tank. Great job!!!

The pools aren't filtered. They will be eventually but I need to save up some more money to work on this again haha. Right now water changing is pretty easy. I just pull them both out, dump and clean, put them back in and refill.

Thank you :) I really tried. I can definitely make some improvements and I will, but it will take time :)
