I bought all those materials at Michaels (wooden rods, grain plywood, and waterproof adhesive (no toxic chemicals due to labeling)) The adhesive takes 24 hrs to cure and formed up like some sort of silicon which I don't think it is hazardous plus it is waterproof and can be filed off if needed. The wooden rods seem to be fine as they are used to make parrot ladder but not the grain plywood. After first week, mold started to grown on this plywood and the result was that I threw out that second level. If you are to making this I would suggest using plastic or acrylic plates (square or round).hermiwormi wrote:How did you make that table?p2gg86 wrote:I made a wooden table and my crabs climb on it to hang out and eating as I put my food dish there.

I never heard of those. Very cool. They really hold up? What size do you have?HHIhermies1004 wrote:Hi there,
I've had great success with magnetic ledges. If you search magnetic reptile ledge on amazon or google there will be a whole selection to choose from. there is no problem with sticking due to humidity and weight isn't a problem at all. And i've hung some scrap net and weaved some cholla wood into the net so they can get up there. sorry but i have no idea how to attach pictures these forums (i'm pretty new here).
I hope that helps and gives you a new idea to try.
HI yes they really do hold up. I have a 20 gallon long tank and I put it on the dry side of my tank. if you drape a bit of fish netting on top the hermies will climb up no problem. Also reptile/turtle ramps work wonders as well. they look like bridges or half bridges and you just put them in the tank and TADA...an extra level and if you drape the netting again they can climb up from all sides. The bridges can be a bit long so just be cautious about the size you order...if you choose to leave out the netting thats cool too and stick the dishes right under the bridge. Finally I'm a huge fan of mopani drift wood (search on amazon) all my animals have loved it in the past and the possibilities are endless with them...before hermies i've had bearded dragons and leopard geckos so finding 2 level and basking options was a fun hobby.Hermiesguardian wrote:I never heard of those. I use a bird ladder and attach craft mesh to it. You can leave the metal hooks on the end to attach to the level if it can. Or attach with zip ties.ApePlanet wrote:My first attempt at making a second level and I’m looking for some suggestions (besides a net) for a way for my crabs to get to it. I have a piece of cholla wood there now but I don’t think it’s great. Thoughts or suggestions please! Thanks!
I thought about a bird ladder. Do they like/use it? Looks great!Hermiesguardian wrote:I use a bird ladder and attach craft mesh to it. Good advice!GotButterflies wrote:I just wanted to mention that glues should not be used when crabs are present in the tank. That would be harmful to their gills.
They use it all the time.ApePlanet wrote:I thought about a bird ladder. Do they like/use it? Looks great!Hermiesguardian wrote:I use a bird ladder and attach craft mesh to it.
