It depends on the type of lid and how far away the light is. Directly over a glass lid, it would make the tank about 4-5 degrees warmer. ok, i just asked my dad about the lamp... he said that the tubular bulb would be OK for the desk lamp that I have and plan on using with the bulb. he said that the main concern is that the lamp doesn't get too hot... i'm guessing since the bulb will be 40 watts at the most, it won't be that much of a problem.
question: if i leave the bulb on all the time, will it confuse the hermies? like... if they respond to the glow from the lamp, will it not make them sleep if the lamp is left on all the time?
