Before and after of each part. Each need a second coat of course. Especially the one! ImageImageImageImageImageImage

The shadows make one part of that piece look darker than the other but it isn't.

Probably 1 more coat before it is finished.

2 top parts side by side. The front needs one more coat of stain to hide the damage but this is what it looks like together. Image

This is the current pic of the front of the canopy. The color difference around the scratches will be fixed after the last coat of stain. Problem is that the wood filler absorbed more stain than the wood. The scratches that I was refinishing to get rid of are back! I am sooo...not happy about this. Image

I think the only options I have is sanding it all the way down and starting over or buying another piece of wood.

Problem with the first option is how much time it takes and the fact that my sanding tool uses special sand paper which I would have to go to sears to get more of. The weather is getting too hot for that much time outside.

Problem with the second option is the edging on the piece and the holes drilled for the hinges and knobs.

The edges shouldn't be so bad but getting the knobs in place perfectly is going to be difficult for me.

Bah!

I put the rest of it together and on top of the tank. I don't care enough that it is missing the one piece to let it collect dust and take up space in my garage.

This is right now.Image

BTW this makes it look like I have little to no substrate. I have 9 inches of it this angle is meant to show the top so the camera angle cuts it off.

It really looks great. :) You know the scratches are there which makes them annoying, but they really aren't bad. I'd be the same way, though! :P

Looking awesome! I'd personally just get frustrated and sand the sucker, but that's just me

I am soooo over sanding lol. It wouldn't be bad except the polyurethane gums up the sand paper and it is a pain in the butt. I am hoping that it won't be as bad since I used a 2 in 1 stain that already had it mixed in. Guess we'll see. Not today though since it is father's day.

Crap. Highs this week are 89, 88, 84, 85, 83 and 82. I can't handle the heat. Guess I have some early mornings.
