Re: Time to refinish the canopy.

My husband asked me to do something with it until I have time to go to work on it again. He even suggested bringing it in and putting it on the canopy. I think it would make me crazy. He is trying to keep it from getting more damaged. I need to decide if I want to just get it over with or if I want to just get it out of the way.

Kinda wanna take a sledge hammer to it and build one from scratch. But I am impatient and frustrated. Lol

Can you hide it with decorative pulls or handles? You have to be able to lift the lid, right? ;) I think I got my pretty seashell pull from Lowes. They had to special order it, but they have a really huge selection of fancy themed cabinet hardware!

I wish. :( I didn't put the last coat of stain on to match the color so ignore tht. It is the deep black lines where the stain absorbed into the wood filler that looks so awful. It hurts my heart to see it after how much work I put into it. This panel is why I refinished the whole stand and canopy! Image I hate this thing....

The damage is on the bottom half between the pulls. Doesn't that suck?!

It was like gouges when we got it. I didn't notice because he sat it in the next room and it was darker in there. I also found melted wax on top of the canopy and the lighting wired inside kept popping the breakers in my house. I paid $600 for it but having to put as much work into it as I have becase he was dishonest and it was beat up when he said it wasn't really makes me angry. I had to spend just as much on supplies to refinish it evade I had to buy a special sanding tool on top of the stain, brushes and everything else. Wasn't worth it.

How hard would it be to replace that one panel?

I am trying to figure that out myself. If the board was the right size it would take sanding and drilling 2 holes each for the 2 hinges and one each for the knobs. It would be easy to sand it and stain it. The hard part is getting the right board since I don't have a way to cut it.

Easy except the right size board. Time to measure.

ETA - once I finish my grilled cheese.

Grilled cheese always wins. It would never do to let that get cold...

Some hardware places will cut to length for you. Don't know how spot on accurate they would be, though.

Not meant to happen...had back to back seizures and now my 2 year old is asleep on me.

When I get the chance the measurement would be thickness x width x length right?
