Why would I need to rinse it since the crabs can't get in the water?

Oh, I was assuming that you would make the bigger bowl the water dish. That's what I did. The bubbles do not make the crabs scared, in fact it is like a little spa. Sponges get quite nasty if left in water very long.

They can't get in it, I'd say the bowl is about 4" or alittle more high and its made of glass and its completley full so they wouldn't be able to get to the top to get in or get out. I have noticed that the vibrations from the bubbler is (if you put your hand on the sand) that you can feel the vibrations from it, will this bother the crabs?

I think they get used to it. But if you want to, you could bury the bowl into the sand, put a fake plant in it and let them use it as a pool.

My sand isn't that deep, if it was that deep 75% of the tank would be sand, the tank is about a foot high and with the bowl sitting on the sand its 9.5" tall. Is 80F to high of a temp for the crabs?

With mine, I just turn the light off, its one of those reptiglo lights that produces heat because my lps said I needed it so when it gets above 80F I turn the lights out.

We made a similar unit. Here are the prime differences.

We used the Ziploc twist and Loc tubs. These are 2 for ~$2.50 at most places.

The plastic lids screw on and make an airtight seal. You'll need to use a
"hot poker" of some type when you make the openings or the plastic will crack. We made three holes since we are using a double pump.

We put aquarium tubing splicers in the lid and sealed the ring around it with aquarium sealant.on the inside of the lid are two short lengths of hose with bubblestones that should be long enough to touch bottom.

To the top side of the lid we run the two intake lines from the double pump (or two singles ) and a "plastic valve" that allows us to dial down how much air is really going to the tank. ( We usually leave it wide open. ) The hose to the tank is attached to the valve.

We fill the container with sponges and keep the water level between half and 3/4s full.

Seems to work pretty well. At the moment this one rig is actually tee'd off and running two 10 gallon tats.

Great work! My Humidity & temp are both at 80-85 right now, so I won't need to use one.

Well go to a fish store then get a airpump thats rated for the size tank you have then ask them to show you were the airstones are, they look like this Image and what they do is if you just have the airline tubing in the container of water (tubing connected to air pump) it will just make big bubbles and it will be loud, using a airstone will silence it and make the bubbles more efficent.

Is it airline tubing for aquariums? If so, then yes you can cut it, how do you think they gave it to you ? They had to cut the length you wanted out of the box. LOL ;)
