They can't get in it, I'd say the bowl is about 4" or alittle more high and its made of glass and its completley full so they wouldn't be able to get to the top to get in or get out. I have noticed that the vibrations from the bubbler is (if you put your hand on the sand) that you can feel the vibrations from it, will this bother the crabs?

Re: Bundy's DIY Humidifier :D
We made a similar unit. Here are the prime differences.bundy wrote:Well, inspired by Cwaweeks I decided to go ahead and make myself and the crabbies a humidifier, as I have been struggling to keep humidity up (If I don't mist regulaly it can drop to as low as 40% )
We used the Ziploc twist and Loc tubs. These are 2 for ~$2.50 at most places.
The plastic lids screw on and make an airtight seal. You'll need to use a
"hot poker" of some type when you make the openings or the plastic will crack. We made three holes since we are using a double pump.
We put aquarium tubing splicers in the lid and sealed the ring around it with aquarium sealant.on the inside of the lid are two short lengths of hose with bubblestones that should be long enough to touch bottom.
To the top side of the lid we run the two intake lines from the double pump (or two singles ) and a "plastic valve" that allows us to dial down how much air is really going to the tank. ( We usually leave it wide open. ) The hose to the tank is attached to the valve.
We fill the container with sponges and keep the water level between half and 3/4s full.
Seems to work pretty well. At the moment this one rig is actually tee'd off and running two 10 gallon tats.

Well go to a fish store then get a airpump thats rated for the size tank you have then ask them to show you were the airstones are, they look like this and what they do is if you just have the airline tubing in the container of water (tubing connected to air pump) it will just make big bubbles and it will be loud, using a airstone will silence it and make the bubbles more efficent.
