130 Gallon Stand

Post by TheLilMommaB » Fri Oct 10, 2014 9:47 pm

Ok crabbie crew I need a hand :-) we picked up a 130 gallon aquarium but the stand that came with it is a flimsy metal one that makes my heart skip a beat...my dad just wants to cut the feet off so it sits right one the full frame then set it back up on 2x4s so the feet don't go thru our old thin stone tile flooring and end up unlevel causing a chance of breakage...I think they should just do it right from the start and build a cinder block stand but even that idea is ignored :-/ ugh parents...anyone out there have any suggestions for a really stable tank stand of that size?

If you want to build one from wood, this one can be used for any size tank: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1169964

Thanks they did finally just use cinder blocks because they wanted it up in a hurry.

And here it is :-) ready for our Oscars to call it home just need to get lids for it and make sure all the water tests are about the same in both tanks so they don't have any more stress that nessasary. Hopefully they can move next weekend then we'll be setting their old 55 up for the turtle :-) so happy to be giving everyone the upgrade they need and deserve :-)

Very nice. 6 PPs in a 130?! I hope you get 'em some buddies :). I just picked up a 90 gallon with stand, lights, and glass lid today for $225. I'm hoping to move my 9 PPs into it in the next few weeks, once I get it all set up.

I wish the hermies could go in the 130 but the Oscars and turtle are way too crowded in their current homes. But luckily I got plenty more tanks to fill :-)

Here they are in their too small 55. Please don't mind the messiness it is so hard to keep clean and parameters in check with them bothin there. The pet store told us they would be fine in the 55. Before I found this site I thought pet stores new what they were talking about but once I found out about all the bad info they give about hermit crabs I figured I'd check out the rest of our animals. I have alot of work to do to get all our animals into comfy healthy homes.

They are beautiful tiger oscars! I would love to have some but don't have the space and wouldn't have the heart to cram them into something too small. Love the upgrade and I'm sure they will love it too!

OMG, they too beautiful! You should've warned me. :)
I'm looking forward to the day when I can get an oscar or too, if only my parents allowed me to have a 6ft tank in my room... *sigh* I know that they will enjoy stretching their fins in the new tank!

One oscar is fine in a 55 that might be a little easier to talk them into ;-) I can't wait to see them in the 130. The Oscars forum I joined said they will prolly sulk at first cuz they don't like changes lol I can't wait to see if they do I'll definitely be putting some video up after the switch :-)
