Mesh Tubing

I've seen this product in both Walmart and Jo-Ann's and immediately started thinking how nifty it would look in the crabitat, maybe braided into a vine or suspension bridge. The tubing is clear plastic with various colored plastic mesh within.

My concern is, of course, safety. The crabs will pinch it -- that's just a given -- and will probably eventually expose the plastic mesh inside. It's manufactured in China by Darice, the same company that makes the craft mesh we use for pool ramps, etc, in our tanks.

What do you all think? Has anyone used this product in a crabitat?

ahhhh I like that! That could be incorporated in so many ways. Hopefully someone knows if it is safe or not. I would love to grab some if it is. Thanks for sharing!

Well, this was a short-lived idea! I was in Jo-Ann's today and saw an open bag of this product so I surreptitiously pulled the end of the tube out to take a closer look and, boy, was I disappointed! The mesh tube is sooooo flimsy, really no stronger than a piece of ribbon. There went my grandios idea of using green or yellow tubing to create all kinds of neat crabbie climbing items :headshake: .

You could use wide ribbons to weave something.
