Netting

So, I bought either this, or something very similar. I didn't originally use it in my 'tat, as I didn't know if the crabs would get tangled in it, or if it has too large of holes. Anyone have experience w/ this product, or is it useless for me (excluding decoration)? Thanks!

I use netting everywhere in my tat. Just not that brand. I got mine from Naples and Amazon but netting should all be the same. If you can open it and see how big the holes are to see if it is too big that's what I would do. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response. Actually, I was wondering if anyone had experience with this particular one (namely, larger holed nets), as I was wondering what is "too" big! Thanks, though!

You have to be careful with the decorative ones. Might be chemically treated.

I never thought of that but you are right. Most things bought at craft stores have some kind of chemicals on them so they can be used for crafts / which is what they are sold for.

Yeah, that could totally happened. For this specific kind, I know I saw somewhere that people had used it, and to just give it a good soak in salt water. It smelled so much like fish!!
Anyway, any experiences?

That's a good point! Never thought about that. I got ours from hobby lobby. Not sure if it was the same brand or not. It didn't have a smell at all and we've used ours on and off for the past few months without problems. That said, just in case, I am going to soak ours in MSW too just to be on the safe side. Thanks for the tip!!!

I've used netting like this for two years with no problems. Threw it in with a batch of shells I was boiling and put it in the tank after.
