New hideout and shell shack

After our previous shell shack fell apart we decided to try something a little different. Saw a lady on YouTube making a hideout for her little pet using Tupperware. We took that idea and added a shell shack silicone glued on top with netting and shells and river rocks. This is what we got

Here is the view from the top
We let it dry out for a good few weeks and now it doesn't smell of silicone anymore so we will be putting it in the tat today and see how the hermies love it. A few of the shells from the top fell off but figured they won't mind! Lol! Just thought I would share the idea since I'm always looking for ideas from others as well

Love the idea of adding the fish netting to help the crabs climb in! I often use fish net as a "drape" over a climbing branch and always find at least one of the guys using the net to access the top of the branch instead of climbing along its length. At least I know they enjoy it!

Yeah, I think it's interesting to put it in and see what they decide to do with it! Silly crabs! Ive been trying to get a pic of one of our hermies messing around in there but apparently I don't stay up late enough and she obviously knows when I go to sleep and when I wake up

Little bugger. Our Spidey crab has been down for about 3 weeks now so hopefully he is molting then will be back up to challenge the new climber /hideout. He isn't as shy as our Clare

When I do get some pics of them I will be sure to post them:)

Finally found a hermie in the new shell shack and was able to get a pic!! Love that Mike is back with us after his long molt because he is our diurnal crab so I finally have a hermie I can watch during the day as well!! Found him checking out the shell shack. If u look closely he is in the green turbo on right side of shell shack
So far I have to say I'm liking the new shell shack!

Thank you!! Apparently the 2 littlest crabs decided to change their shells as well. We just got back from a weekend away and their old shells are now in the shell shack. Hate it when they do that! I already get them all confused as it is

I was browsing thru the diy forum for ideas, this may be the best yet. I have this netting but have not figured out a way to use it, I have extra Tupperware but need the basket. What kind of glue did you use and where can I grab some?

Thank you!! I used aquarium safe DAP which was recommended from another HCA member

Here is a pic of the packaging

I believe u can purchase it at any hardware store like Home Depot or Lowes for fairly cheap. After applying, you have to wait until the glue is set and no longer has a smell. After that u can put it into the tat!
