flex seal?

I'm looking into building a vertical habitat from an old curio cabinet and I've been trying to find a way to waterproof wood that's safe and non-toxic, but also won't set me back a ton of money. I've heard that liquid rubber is safe for waterproofing wood and I found this stuff called "flex seal" that comes in a spray can and is marketed as a non-hazardous and food safe liquid rubber, but I wasn't 100% sure if it would be safe or not... Have any of you had any experience with this stuff or know if it's safe to use?

Here's a link to their website:

Thanks!

I see this in as old post, but since you didn't get any answers, I thought I would add something I happened to run across.

Seems like some of this might be be workable for your project.

Since flexseal is rubber, I would thing the crabs would pick at it.
