Fabric?

I had a crazy idea for a project, and I wondered if there is any fabric that is crab safe? It'd have to put up with the humidity, and at least be somewhat durable (though I'm sure I'd eventually have to replace it). Does anyone have any ideas for a cloth that could work?

Jute and hemp works for netting and should work in fabric form. Cotton is crab safe but I think it would mold in constant humidity. Either would need to be 100% pure and not dyed.

Please be careful with fabrics, the ones sold in craft stores are loaded with sizing and other chemicals that make them look good while on the bolt. Fabric that is imported into the US also gets a good dose of insecticide to make sure nothing is hitching a ride that could become invasive to our own crops!

If I ever get around to the project, I'll show you guys. Thanks!
I think burlap should work. It's fine if it isn't colorful, I can't think of any safe fabrics that would be.

In regards to netting...I'm not crafty, I dont sew, knit, glue...or anything. I buy already made. So it seems like any netting I purchase would not be safe. I did buy netting from Hobby Lobby which I am returning today since it has a strong diesel (?) odor. You mentioned burlap. I have seen a roll of burlap in walmart, but even thought it's a bit rough, it doesn't look like it has any way a crab can hold on and climb. Any suggestions?

Authentic fish net is awesome- it is what I use in my crabitats. I’m sorry you haven’t had any luck.

Like wodesorel mentioned, you really want to get organic
