HCA: Hermit Crab Association

Hello, I have some prickly pear cactus that I would like to put in the crabitat as a live plant. I was looking at the safe plant lists and I saw that prickly pear cactus is safe. I know that there are spineless varieties of prickly pear but they all still have glochids. Do the glochids not affect hermit crabs or is there a way to prepare the cactus?
