Can I use string in crabitat?

I want to use one of my son’s old Hot Wheels slides as something fun for my crabs to climb on...and a fun way to get to 2nd level (coming soon)

I wanted to wrap string around it like this to give them more grip and wouldn’t want one of their little legs to get stuck in one of the holes.

But then I started wondering about the string in the crabitat. Is it safe? Will it hold up to the humidity? I also have natural jute twine...just have so much more of the string. Part of me doesn’t want to cover it at all and see if they’ll ever slide down, lol Image!

Have no clue on the string, but I would get plastic canvas and cut strips and put it on the cutout parts. I rather like the slide look.

I do too, that’s a great idea! I see people use that a lot actually, but I don’t have any. Where can I find it?

Plastic canvas, also known as craft mesh. You can find it at crafting stores but also walmart usually has it.

I have a Michael’s and a Walmart close by, that’s great! Thank you!
