Tank Crack Repair

I just purchased a 65 gallon tank and stand off Facebook with a crack. The goal is to connect it to my other two tanks. I’m hoping to build a barrier to insert aquariums on one end so I can have large freshwater and saltwater pools. Would it be possible to reinforce this? I was thinking I could when I got it earlier…but I suppose now I’m concerned.

Are both glass panels cracked, or just the 1?

aussieJJDude It’s just the one back panel of glass.

Ah, thats good at least.
Providing you're not removing the side panel, I'd just get a piece of glass and silicone it to cover the crack on the inside. It should help minimise the crack from developing further. Some people like to silicone a piece of glass to fit over the entire back, but it won't really make any difference besides using more silicone/price to get a larger piece of glass.
(Some do use plexiglass or acrylic, but it doesnt really bond well to silicone like glass does. While the weight of the sand will keep it from moving (and it doesnt have to be water tight), my two cents is to keep it safe and stick with glass.

Thanks! That was my initial plan since I read a similar solution on here, but I didn’t want to go ahead with it and then have the whole thing break

I also wouldn't worry too much since it looks like if it cracks further it will do so arcing down to the rim. That's a little safer in the long run. Some prevention will keep it looking good for a long time!
