Silicone question

Post by Pumpkincrab » Mon Jan 30, 2023 6:37 pm

Hey y'all:

Is it safe to apply silicone in a tank that has no crabs in it, no decorations, but just substrate?

The tank I'm working on (29g, for captive-breds soon to come) has had substrate but essentially nothing else in it for months, ever since I moved my crabs out of it in March.

Would it "poison" the substrate from the fumes? I've tried removing the substrate, probably got 1/4 of it out...but want to know if I have to do so before I do any more.

Thanks

It just needs to air out before the crabs go in. It won't soak in or poison anything inside, but the fumes themselves can be overwhelming while they're being produced.
