Suitable yarn for hermit crabs

I am going to crochet a climbing net, and maybe a hammock or two, for my hermit crab, Paganini. (I know I should have two but its friend died when Paganini uncovered him during molting, it died of stress I believe. I will be getting a new one in the future.)
I have some nice cotton yarn. Can I use that, even if it is dyed? If not, can I use an acrylic yarn instead?
Also, any patterns you could share would be quite helpful as well!

No, I wouldn't use yarn - crabs will just pick it apart and eat it.
I believe you can use cotton, not dyed.

I've used jute twine and hemp to crochet items for my crabbies.

Are there any specific brands that you use?

No specific brands, just whatever says it's 100% or natural jute/hemp. I've found hemp is much easier to crochet with than jute.
