Forest Bedding?
How many are using forest bedding exclusively for their substrate now, and what are your results? I used some on my second level and really like it, but wonder if it would be as good as sand. I think their would be less mess with the bedding, and it seems to help the humidity as well. Thoughts, opinions?

I've used both sand and fb exclusivly and combined. I've found that my hermies dig more when the 2 are combined.

I have used FB only in the past and the crabs seemed to like it. I decided to give sand a try so I am 100% sand right now. My straws didn't dig in it much but they seem to love to dig in sand which is what I have now. I had a little pp dig down into FB for 8 weeks before surfacing so he must have liked it down there. I definitely had an easier time with humidity control with the FB. I'm currently setting up my main crabitat with 50/50 to see if I can keep everyone happy.

I use EE 100% in both of my ISO tanks and a mixture of EE and playsand (3:1) in my main tank. I started off with calcisand and they never dug down in it, I then switched to playsand and they still never dug down, so I finally took all of the sand out for a deep clean and put in a layer of about 1 inch on the bottom and then added a 3 inch layer of EE on top of it...and oh my gosh! they were digging and tunneling like crazy!
I'm finding though that as it has gotten more thoroughly mixed it has tended to act more like just playsand in regards to holding humidity. In my next deep clean, I am going to buy some crushed coral to line the entire bottom and then make a layer of EE on one end only, so that it stay out of my water dishes. I also plan to add a layer of terrarium moss on top of the EE.
I'm so excited!

hmm
Hmm I use eco-earth exclusively now. I really like the smell, and how it keeps humidity. Oh and it's fun to play in And yes my crabs never dug in the sand. Once I switched there's one of my 4 crabs who is constantly under, I never see her hmph.
Though the EE has been there a while now; it's becoming a bit strawy and not holding the humidity as well. I might change it soon.
My iso has sand though.

Forest Bedding
I recently added 2 cubes of forest bessing to my crabitat after using sand before. I have found my crabs are more active and seem more comfortable with first bedding. I always thought sand was too easy to get messy and so far the forest bedding handels water and moisture much better.

I just recently was given a 40 gallon tank and I switched from sand entirely to coconut fiber with nothing but amazing results. My Indo's love it, they never would dig in the sand, but they immediately started digging.
One has actually started to molt.
Anyways I believe switching over to the fiber was a great idea, especially because of the type of species I have, they live inland in the forest.
