Zoo Med Hermit Crab Scooper...

I was eyeing them up for a while, and yesterday I finally bought one. I'm not sure on other people's experiences with them, but I think it was a waste of $4.50 for me. The concept looks good, but when your sand is damp, it clumps and doesn't easily go through the sifter.

Yep....I found mine to be worthless too. Even in areas where the sand was dry enough, it didn't work. The poop would sift right through the holes. Now I use a plastic spoon which was much cheaper than the pooper-scooper!!!

I have one and it comes in handy for corners or if you don't want to move things in the tank to use the larger sifters.

I use mine to sift through FB when I want to get out the large wood chunks. Also its good to get left over moss out so you dont have to sit there for an hour using your fingers. I found it to be a waste next to the water bowls where the sand is damp, but it worked well for me next on the other side of the tank where the sand was dry.

I went the cheap way and just use a strainer that you could put in your sink drain to stop all the food waste from going down the drain. It works exceptionally well in the dry sand. In the wet sand it takes a little while to sift through but mostly if the sand is wet I just throw it out anyways. I think the scoopper is a waste of money for me.

I agree, I ended up using it to scoop out sand to transfer it to my flour sifter! For surface cleaning, I use a plastic spoon too!

I use plastic spoons for surface cleaning (we have hundreds of these uselessly lying about the house), and a kitchen food strainer for the deep cleaning sand.

Also a waste as far as getting poop out. I just used it today to clean out big wet chunks of sand basically. Otherwise, fingers for now....dump everything during the deep clean.

I agree that it is a waste ....especially what it cost. As others have stated , it does not get the crab poop out.
I am going to use the plastic spoon idea in the future....sounds so much more simple and effective.

plastic spoons are much better priced and do a better job! those things just go to show that there really are people out there trying ot make omney off crabs.... you think that they would at least test them before sending a product out! if it doesn't work... why sell it? to make money
