Privacy Screen

Has anyone used the privacy screen? It looks just like tinted cling stuff, but since my tank is in my kitchen I thought it might help to block out some light or shadows... is it worth the $7 ?

I've never heard of it....can you post a link? If it is just the tinted cling stuff, you could probably get it cheaper at an automotive supply store.

My question is why would you need one? Hermit crabs respond more to shadow and sound than they do movement. I doubt that screen is going to do much of limiting shadow or sound.

I thought it may help with the shadows, that is what mine respond most to. Oddly enough, mine never respond to sound at all...

Whenever I make a loud noise, all of my E's freeze in their tracks, antennae and all.

It seems my PP's could care less though.

My tank is upstairs so the floor creaks when you walk on it. When they start hearing the creaks mine will either freeze or run and hide.

If I am right (which I may very well not be) I thought that there as a screen somewhere that was supposed to block out everything for the crab (including shadows) but let u look in. maybe what u have there is what I'm thinking about, I'm not sure.

but it sounds nice to me! lol

I would say if you wanted a privacy screen of that type just get a bath towel and put that around to block shadows and such. Yes you wouldn't be able to see in but it would be cheaper to use and get. Also you could just remove it when ever easily. Besides how would that Privacy screen thing attach?

It "clings" much like saran wrap does *I think*.

I've seen these a looong time ago, I just don't remember where or when...

I use a towel too, which blocks out alot of light from my room, but not all of it. I know for a fact they can still see shadows through it though.

yes it lets you see in, but they can't see you. there's a couple of reasons I can't use anything that drapes over my tank such as a towel, for one it's a fire hazard since I use lights on top, and I also have to keep an eye on my gauges frequently.
I don't really need one, just wondered if anyone else has used it, and is it more of a novelty than something useful?
When I first saw it I thought it was made of some kind of 1 way see through stuff but it does appear to be like window tint...kind of silly i think.
