glass terrarium

What does everyone think of this glass terrarium?

I think it would be perfect for my 4 babies if not for the "rock" backdrop and the screen lid.

I think the rock backdrop or any of them would be great. Something for the crabs to climb all over. Just seal up that screen lid, and your set!

Ive seen those.. just be careful, if the background is styrofoam or a similar soft plastic the crabs' pointy toes, and sharp claws will make small work of it

Kind of small, OK for a few small crabs, but you could get a much larger tank for the price they're asking ($$$$).
faux rock insert removable

Just got an email from the petstore guy selling damaged cages in the classifieds section of the forum that said these faux rock inserts are easily removable and are not glued-in w/ any adhesive. I guess they must be held in there by tension instead. Does anyone have one? Can it really be removed easily?

I just bought a terrarium over here and it is exactly the same as this. It's really great - the crabs are so much easier to get to than from above with a fish-tank. I couldn't see the price - how much were they charging for it? I got mine (I think it is the middle size) cheap second-hand but in new condition for AU$125 (the guy said he paid around AU$220 for it new).

I didn't see a price, but around here those ExoTerra terrarium sets are sold for way too much money and often include things you don't need either. The normal price for the smallest terrarium is about 25 Euro/29$ or even less when bought at a herp expo.
You can seal the background with acryllic paint (the kind suitable for children's toys) or exoyd resin, that way the crabs cannot damage it. You can probably change the screen lid to metal gauze and plexiglas, terrariums don't need ventilation openings that big because the positioning of the openings creates an air flow.
You can build terrariums from OSB panels and even from styrofoam, it's easy, cheap and it keeps the warmth a lot better than glass. If you're interested, I can translate an excellent construction manual for a styrofoam terrarium.
