HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I found this humidifier on Petco.com, and it looks like a decent product. My bro always forgets to cover the kritter keeper, so it's kinda dry in there. Would you recommend this product (or just the DIY humidifier)?

I have had this projuct for months now, and it's worked fine.

The DIY Humidifier is based on the Tropicaire. If ya want something quick and can shell out the money...Go for it I have it and it works great for me. I wish I had waited just a couple days longer...I would have made the DIY myself.

I just bought one last night b/c I wanted something to humidify my tank, and not have to worry about someone misting my tank while I go on vacation. I haven't got it up and working yet but it's put together. So we'll see how it goes from there.

I have a question also, What type of lids do you have on top of your crabitat with the tropicaire?

A glass lid, but the glass lid does not cover the entire top area, so there is room for the tropic air tube to get into the tank.

I ask about this product because we need a way to keep a good humidity level without misting, and the sponge isn't working too well. Is it very important to keep things in there humid?

It is very important. I'd buy it if you need help with the humidity.

I bought this a few days ago and couldn't be BETTER. I just LOVE it and it keeps the humidity around 80%

I love mine. Love it, love it, love it. I've had several of them and never a problem with any of them. Even when I clean the tank and the humidity goes down, it's back up in five minuets.

Can someone post the directions for the DIY humidifier or direct me to where the direction are?

I am starting to plan my 20g setup. Can't wait to get moved/settled and started on it. I am having very good luck keeping temp & humidity up with the smaller tat.

Mine didn't do a whole lot in the tank. I thought it was overpriced considering the results I got.

If you want to use a cheaper/quicker/easier way to raise the humidity, you can just put some aquarium airstones in your water dishes. You just need an air pump, a coupler, a few feet of airline tubing, and a couple of airstones. Less than $15.00 and you're good to go. Won't take up any room in the tank, either.
