Making your own crabitat Plants

Has anyone tried this? I got tired of spending so much on plants for the tat, so I bought a tube of aquarium silicone, and a couple of "bushes" from work. I cut them apart and filled the bottom of a well rinsed Jello cup with the silicone.

Bent the cut ends of the wires at an angle, and stuck them down in the silicone. and let it dry. [One bush makes about 4 plants depending on what and how you use it] So instead of 2-3$ a plant, I got 4 for about 3$ plus the cost of the silicone.

I'll be adding another layer of the silicone to make sure all of the wires are really covered well, and then cutting them apart. I'll post pics of them when I am able.

Supplies

1 sheet thin plexi
1 large tube aquarium sealant
1 bush plant your choosing from Michael's or Hobby lobby.
Wire cutters.

Cut plexi into strips, and cut into sections. [works best in long sections]

Use sealant to make angled base [pic]

When set, Fill base with sealant and place bent wire from plant. Fill with sealant to cover.

Let set up. [pic]

Thanks... So far none of the plants have been dug up either. The bases don't take up as much room in the sand I think so they don't get disturbed as easily? I'm not sure, but I've had crabs dig down right next to them and the plants don't budge.
