Any places to get plexi-glass "seconds"?

Post by wodesorel » Fri Feb 26, 2010 4:02 pm

I'm still planning the monster display-case conversion! I'm trying to come up with a cost effective way of sealing everything up. After working with plexi for the 15G, I'm thinking that if I just line all the wood with plexi and seal the joints with silicone it would work great. I'm just wondering if anyone knows places that might sell plexi "seconds" - damaged, cracked or generally undesirable pieces that sell for less. They don't need to be crystal clear since they'll just be acting as a moisture barrier. Any way to save a buck! Bigger sheets would be better, but I would have no problem piecing together smaller panels.

Any ideas? I don't have a clue. :?:

maybe ask at the local home depot or lows what they do with the scraps or pieces unusable because of scratches. Id ask a manager, they might give you a bulk price for a package or if they trash them maybe they will just give it to you!

I got some pieces for free today at Lowe's. I just asked. They cut them to size for me for free!

I used to work with Plex and any shop should have lots of unusable scraps by the saw. Sign shops also buy and use lots so they might be a good place to ask.
