Cheap background idea...

Post by Guest » Fri Jul 16, 2010 11:13 pm

Here are some pics of my new back ground... You won't believe what it's made of....

Image

It's paper bag ( like a paper lunch bag) I tore it in strips then crumpled it and soaked it in glue water mixture. I didn't smooth it out and so it gave it a great textured look.

This is after everything was placed back in...

Great part is you could change it's color by dying it with tea or even a little food coloring

This is a good idea, I'd give it a shot if I didn't just rearrange the tank haha.

I'd have to make sure it's safe glue to use, but I'll definately consider it, as my black background is dulllllll

I did it on the out side of the tank and used just regular school glue... I redid my tank tonight but even if I hadn't I could have still done the background I just had to scoot the tank away from the wall...

Great idea!

The wood decoration in the middle of the tank is interesting. Is that real or artificial?

The wood in the middle is real. It's actual driftwood that was picked up from the river near by. It was cleaned and I soaked it in salt water... So far no mold or anything It's actually really interesting piece of wood because there are some fresh water clams embedded in some of the crevices

That is beautiful! I love the idea. Was wondering what to do on the back of my tank, as it's just plain glass. You could probably use colored or textured paper from an art store, too.

really great idea! I bet colored recycled paper could be neat too. Maybe do a sunset type of colors. It looks great!
Ive also used water color pencils on paper I bet that would work as well.
