Review- Bendable vine

I got a bendable vine, darn it can't remember the brand now, but it is brown, highly bendable, and was found in the reptile section. It has a foamish coating. I was apparently not thinking when I bought it because now that it was been in the tank someone is picking the outer layer off!! I would steer away from this again. I'm afraid it could hurt them if they eat it. I'm not sure if they did or not but I'm erring on the side of caution.

Anyone have a good climbing vine?

Thanks for the review :)

For my vines I got to Michael's and get one of there nice all plastic ones (no metal) and use those. They work great and the clan love it. I paid about $12.99 for one but its was huge, well worth the money and I have tons of spare vine now in case the other gets too worn.

I've found two different brands of bendy vines. I think this one is is the one you might have:

Pieces came off where I was bending it, but I haven't noticed any increasing damage from the crabs. It's been in my tank for a few months.

I also have this type bendy vine:

This one has more texture and I haven't noticed any damage in the coating for the several months that it's been in my tank. I've re-arranged it, rebent it in various places and it hasn't shown any break in the skin.

yeah that first one looks like it. I paid a good bit for it and hate to get rid of it. I do want to replace it because it looks nice and the crabs seem to enjoy it. Thanks for the input!

I have used both of those in the past.

The second link is one that I started using, but the crabs would eat the entire thing down to the metal, and then it was exposed to the humid air and would rust, eventually breaking.

I am currently using the first link, and so far, there are only a few crabby nibbles taken out of it. No ill effects yet, and I try to combat their hunger for synthetic fibers by giving them real ones: oak leaves, cattails, and maple/oak bark.
