So.....I kinda want to make a little upper level shell shop for my hermies. I found one of those bird cage feeding bowl things for 99cents on clearance at petsmart when I got Leth the other day, so I took off the metal hanging wires. Only problem now is how and where to put it in my crabitat, since honestly, the crabitats not that big......any suggestions? I'll post a pic of what I'm tLking about later if anyone is confused, but ideas or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated by me and my crabbies! :)

Don't use metal!!! Metal will rust and it will harm the hermit crabs!!! use a shower basket :)

A lot of people use suction cups from craft stores that are designed to hold the weight of wreaths and other larger/heavier items. I haven't used them myself, but I've seen a lot of tank photos on here and heard good things about them.

good luck

You know you could, possibly, take choya wood and glue them with aquarium selant to a upside down coco-hut to make a shell shop?

I really want just something like hot glue but I know that's not good for the crabbies....

The problem with hot glue is it won't last in the humidity, I made a cool 2nd level with seashells glued together for stairs to get up to it & it lasted only a week

If you glue it with a decent amount of aquarium silicone, and set it up in a corner so you have 2 glued sides, it should hold just fine. Trouble is, you'll have to keep the crabitat vented for at least 48 hours, I'd recommend 4-5 days for good measure.
When I took out a divider that I set up in the tank, I would have much sooner broken the glass from the stress, so I had to use a razor blade to cut it out.

most metal isnt going to hurt your crabs if you look half way down the post below you will see the posting JMT did with some of his research:

one of the things i think should be made a post that we have access to at all times. its defiantly worthy!
