Antlers and Bones
Might be an odd question but has anyone used antlers and bones in their crabitats? I just bought a huge 11 inch antler for my dogs and I was staring at it when I got home and thinking this would make a great climbing branch for the crabs. They aren't 100% smooth so likely would be climbable. Plus I'm not exactly sure what the insides are made of, some of bone/ marrow mixure maybe, but i'm sure the crabs would think its nom nom. I don't foresee this molding either. But I don't think the dogs are giving it up....

Re: Antlers and Bones
I, personally, haven't offered my crabs any antlers, but this reminded me of a thread.

I think it should be okay. Maybe if someone else can further offer opinions/ experience with it.

Bones/Antlers would probably make great tank decor. It adds an awesome look to your tank, allows them to climb, and has lots of calcium. Go for it if you get another, I wouldn't try taking it from the dogs.

Pinchy and Calypso turned out to be the same crab, pre-molt/post-molt.

Re: Antlers and Bones
Been wanting to try deer antler since I saw them for sale in the pet shop. They cost $10 for a small piece though, so I haven't been able to get one yet. I don't know of any hunters who I could get a piece from, and I've never found any shed antlers in the woods before. The ones that they sell are from natural sheds, so that does make me feel better since my mother would never stop bringing up Bambi during hunting season.

Very interesting! My dad is a hunter so I definitely could get ahold of some.

Re: Antlers and Bones
Yea they are very expensive. The one I got today was almost $18.00 and honestly i've never seen them that big. I think my budget for the crabs is blown for the next year but if i see another decent sized one I pick it up for the crabs. The dogs may not talk to me for a while though...
