Re: Jute net?
I have! I planned on making another one to add another layer, right now I have one hanging for my background that is 3dc 2ch all the way across, and I kind of staggered them each row. Theres so many different ways you can make one though, just play around with different stitches

Ugh. Got out the jute twine finally, and it reeks of chemicals. So much for that idea....

Yeah jute is the worst, smells like kerosene. Michael's Craft Stores sell hemp twine, which is what I used to crochet my nets. If you find the right stuff, here is a good pattern to use.

I like the twine from Michael's, too! I use it for bird toys...I'm just HORRIBLE with crocheting, so I don't know about the whole net idea!

Re: Jute net?
I got some jute from the dollar store... Doesn't smell like chemicals, in fact it smells a lot like fresh eco earth, could I just boil it to be safe?
Re: Jute net?
That's where I got mine and it smells like a leaky gas pump.

Re: Jute net?
Did it come with 2 natural looking rolls and then a green one? The green one smells different than the two undyed ones
Re: Jute net?
Yeah, sounds like the same stuff. Guess I'd better sniff all three rolls!

Re: Jute net?
You can go on ebay... and look for "Natural, UNOILED" jute rope or twine. I just ordered some from a place on ebay. When I did my search I searched for parrot safe toys and ropes. Or maybe try doing a search for natural unoiled rope... and see what you come up with.
When I get mine, which should be any day... I will let you know how it smells... and whether or not you should go that route.

Thanks! I sniffed all the jute rolls from the dollar store and they reek. I'd love to find some that are natural.

Re: Jute net?
I got some from the dollar store before and had the same thing... I smelled so bad I put it in a ziploc baggie and gave it to my husband to use out in the garage. What did I care... it cost me a dollar. LOL...
But I think after shipping this "Natural, unoiled" jute that I ordered from ebay was around $5 for 100 ft, maybe... here is the link...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320877719951?ss ... 1439.l2649.
Like I said when I get it I will give it a smell and let you know! Gosh it sounds weird... to say I will smell something for someone... and let them know what I think... LOL... to much...
