Have to go get a bucket. I can get salt water that's already cycled from the aquarium store up the road for a $1 a gallon. I need about 5-6 more lbs of live rock because I think the one I have is at least 5-6lbs and I have live sand.

So Roshi, Yoshi, Carmine the dwarf red legged crab, and all the brine shrimp can live together in their own tank.

Now I just have to figure out where to put the tank.

That's very awesome of you !! I have began to fall in love with crabs over a short period of time. I feel like they're not just for anyone!

I'll try to take some pics and post. To the person in Dallas... we live in Grapevine. If you have a home for our little guy that would be awesome! Otherwise I'll try to adopt him elsewhere. In the meantime I'll take the advice I find here and try to give him the best habitat I can while we search for a new home for him.

If someone wants to contact me directly I can be found online by googling my company Good Automation. My name is Albert. You can email me from my website. (Not sure I want to post a phone number and email here...)
I live in grapevine, and my girlfriend and I had the same mishap. Brought home a shell, disnt know it had a creature. Ive done research and found its a thin stripe. Hes the cutest and we love him. Kraba DeVille is his name and we have had him a week. We were lucky enough to have purchased a tank months before so when we found him on the kitchen floor (from a fall), we went into parental mode to keep him alive. We have had him for a little over two weeks. And we have two large live rocks, an emerald crab named Oz, and five blue legged hermits. He eats krill and I have been handfeeding him its so fun. He crawls around all day and sleeps here and there. I th I k he is happy.

My only concern and what led me to this forum is, does he need to be able to climb to the surface? Does he need air at all? Cause he was found above water. It just seems he tries to climb the glass and I introduced him to the live rock he climbed down. He literally sticks to the edge of the tank. Plenty of sand and place to roam. He even leveled out the sand I had made a pit, and he filled it.
I want to get shelf rock or maybe a crochet ladder? and maybe allow him to surface every now and then, though I'm sure if he can crawl up he will crawl out. My girlfriend has done reseach as well and says an airstone would help him breath if he needed any air. The only downside ive read about that is the salt build up from bubbles pooping on the water surface .
I probably shoukd have started a new thread. But I wanted to letnyou know you arent alone.

These are fully marine crabs and need to be in a reef tank setup. The live rock should provide what they need as far as climbing.

The Dallas Marine Aquarium Society forum is helpful.

Thank you. Now I can rest easy knowing I'm doing the best for him. He seems really happy. Especially at feeding time!
