Re: Post About All The Pets You've had!
In my lifetime 17 dogs, 6 cats +strays that I didn't keep, 2 bunnies, 2 tree frogs, 6 African claw frogs, a dozen turtles, sea monkeys (yes they count! ), 2 birds...I hate birds after the two of them, countless fish that I have killed (not on purpose ),27 hermits and the best pet I have ever had, Kira my prairie dog. I miss her.

Re: Post About All The Pets You've had!
I have a cat and 3 hermit crabs. In my lifetime my family had 2 dogs and 3 cats. After I moved out on my own I had 2 cats (one died at 18 of old age, I adopted her at 11). I still have the 2nd cat now.

Post About All The Pets You've had!
I currently have five crabs, and two family dogs, but this is the story of all the pets ever existent in my 11 years of life. Sorry for how long it is, I just feel like it is the best way to explain it, although I don't have even close to the amount that some of you guys do...
My parents started out as the "no pet people" because of the expense, dedication, and time required, not to mention the fact that before we had pets, my sister brother and I were all babies/toddlers, which probably put a lot of strain on my parents. In first grade, I convinced my parents to get my siblings and me guinea pigs. They found three guineas up for adoption online, and then we had Annabelle, Audrey, and Maggie (known as Owen to my little brother who thought Maggie was a boy). We tried our best to take care of them, and they had a huge clean habitat with good food, hiding spots, water, and plenty of bedding, but my parents decided that they couldn't trust three little kids with the responsibility of pets after we tried to clean the cage without asking for help from her and it didn't end well, and gave them away when I finished second grade.
We took off from there. My mother and I were out shopping for groceries one day, and we somehow came home with our first dog Lilly, (later dubbed with the nickname "Teedeums" (hey, my username had to come from somewhere) by yours truly).
Then came the joy of my life, hermit crabs. My parents were visiting family, saw the adorable "easy to care for and child friendly pets", and suddenly I had Swimmie and Petals. They died a sad death, me thinking it was the longest they could possibly live.
Hermit crabs came back to me the summer going into 5th grade. Long story short, since I skipped my birthday in March, they were my present. I had just discovered the joy of the Internet, and decided to look up my new little friends. I was shocked to find out that I had ignorantly brutally suffocated, poisened, and ultimately murdered my little friends. At the time, with all these stuff I needed to get at once and not knowing about the joy of being able to get paid to walk your neighbors dogs, I could only afford a 2.5 gallon tank. But besides that, they had the perfect setup. They were doing fine and I got the money for a larger tank, but then tragedy struck. They died for unknown reasons. I cried for weeks, and even pretended to be sick a couple of days so I could mourn. Actually, I couldn't bring myself to bury them until last week, almost a year after their death. It was pretty sad, I had to hold back tears a few times. They are buried next to a patch of daisies that bloom early spring. Ok, no more details, I am going to make myself cry
.
I took a break for a while, and December of 5th grade we got our second dog Ginger. I thought the days of getting pets were over, but then a miracle happened this year, 6th grade (or it depends on how you look at it). My parents, who were already pretty upset at how far they broke their rule, would actually let me buy myself three crabs under the condition that I would start taking medicine for my ADHD, because I guess they think focusing and impulsivity is direly important, to the point of bribery (it supposedly helps me concentrate and control impulses, but I truly despise that stuff).
I was mad at their end of the bargin, but I was so happy. The next week, after finding all the supplies I had from the other crabs, I took out the remainder of my money, and my dad drove me to the pet store. I got the crabs, and then went to the reptile section (which this pet store happened to way underprice everything in, except for sand). I spent the remainder on extra things for the tat, since I already had the essentials (including the larger tank (I think it's twenty gallons) that I got right before my other guys died). The next day I decided to do more research to make sure I still had everything right, and I found this forum. I learned even more then I had already known, and even had to make a few adjustments to my crabitat. This is the most amazing forum ever and I am so grateful for everyone on it!
Now here, about a month later with five crabs (Don't ask, let's just say that find money on sidewalk + my addiction = me get two more crabs before I learned you could adopt them)! I couldn't be happier, being an obscene animal lover! Big bonus is the two dogs have recently decided I was their new favorite member of the family, after sticking with my mom for the majority of their lives. I am assuming that this is the end of my pet story until my adulthood because my parents are always complaining that my room smells like (insert curse word here), is turning into a beach with all the sand, and how the weird heat lamp glow clearly visible from my window is going to make the neighbors think we are psychos. They are also not exactly happy when they open the fridge only to find the latest homemade color or protein mix for the crabs.
Well that the end to my unnecessarily long and confusing pet story!![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Post About All The Pets You've had!
Lol, I loved reading that Teedeums
I'm probably not going to tell you these in order of when we had them, because I can't remember what we had first and next and last...
My family hasn't had a lot of pets because my parents and brother are allergic to dogs, cats, rabbits...so on and my mom doesn't really want furry pets. We started with a goldfish. I don't know how long we had it. My dad accidentally killed it because he forgot to put in the water conditioner. So then we got another and it died eventually. I honestly don't remember much about these fish it was such a long time ago
We also had sea monkeys and in that kit there was what was called aquasours, we still don't know if they are a real thing or just what someone called the kit. Anyway those lasted for a while then we used up the rest of the eggs that came with the kit. I'd say we had those things for 1 and a half years maybe
Then a neighbor of ours found some "tadpoles" in her backyard (first sign we shouldn't of taken them since they didn't have a pond.) I convinced my mom to let me have some. They started in a fish bowl, then a large bucket. After a while we were starting to wonder if they were actually frogs. There were fewer and fewer of these "tadpoles" in this bucket. Then my sister started getting mysterious bites on her body (second sign that they aren't what we thought they were) One morning we wake up to find a dead mosquito in the water of the "tadpole's" water, with a note from my dad saying something to the effect of this is your "tadpole." Yes we were raising mosquitoes not tadpoles
! My mom promised that I could get a real frog someday. I finally got one when my grandpa gave me a grow-a-frog kit for Christmas one year. I sent for it and then later the next year my mom bought me a larger set up from the company for my birthday. She knew it came with another frog but she thought it was something you send for when you want it. NO! She decided to open it just to make sure there was everything in the package then she was going to set it away for a week or so until my birthday. Well she found a frog! So we ended up with two frogs, the original one passed this July of unknown reasons...I won't go into detail on why I think it passed, I've already ruined people's mind's with that picture
We also had guppies and some other tropical fish that we kept pretty badly. My mom almost dropped one in a crack between the stove and counter while cleaning the water. Then they got Ick which came and went, but they passed one by one.
Then I got my hermit crabs in July of 2013 and hope to have them for as long as I can
I think I covered all of them... As you can probably tell my family isn't the best at keeping pets...or identifying them either lol.

Re: Post About All The Pets You've had!
I forgot to mention I also had 3 female betas in a tiny hex tank on my desk at work. It was a plastic tank apparently a return because after I put my fish in the tank (after being in a bowl) they developed ich. So I bought a very large bowl and put the fish in that and nursed them back to health. After a while (like months) of having the fish in the bowl the weekend janitor decided to clean out a big empty bowl on my desk. And thus ended the lives of my betas. He swore the bowl was empty.
