Yes, spaying and neutering should curb spraying. I'm not sure how young it can be done; i have seen different opinions on that. When I had a bunch, the Humane Society did some for me at 12-16 weeks; the oldest were just over two years. That took care of several problems.
For anything that can go in the washer, OxyClean is amazing. The secret is to let it soak. Just adding Oxy to a regular wash cycle doesn't really do a whole lot.

As young as 2 pounds (or as soon as the boy bits drop into place if they hadn't by that point), so long as the vet does them at that size regularly. It really comes down to their skills, as a vet who is confident and knows what they're doing can get it done in under 10 minutes and the kitten is back to normal usually within a day. If a vet doesn't normally do young kittens, then it has to be done when they're comfortable for the best results. Younger kittens bounce back so much faster from the surgery. I prefer to get them done as soon as possible, unless they've had health problems.

These are all under a year old. The rescue parents are maybe 10-11 months and the babies will be 3 months.

As you've already found (and it obviously wasn't your fault or responsibility since someone abandoned these two!) some females can reproduce at 4 to 5 months, which is a major cause of oopsie litters because a lot of people don't realize that and think there is time to get it done. First heat is more common at 6 to 8 months, and they will get pregnant the first time. I've seen a lot of 10 month old moms (9 week gestation) over the years. I have to say you got lucky that the kittens were okay, usually when the moms are kittens themselves they don't know what to do with them and the kittens aren't the healthiest to start with. Also, just so you know, the mom will most likely stop growing and stay petite because of the pregnancy.

She is very dainty. The birth was an experience because she had them under the crab table! I heard tiny "mews" and saw the first kitten behind Jayne and Jayne looking at it like an alien! I got a bathtowel and Connor fetched warm water for me and we sat with her while she birthed to make sure there were no issues. A friend worked for an animal hospital so we were texting back and forth. My son knows more than he ever wanted about cats and hermit crabs haha. He told all his cousins about the water balloons coming out of the cat's behind.

That is too good!!!!soilentgringa wrote:He told all his cousins about the water balloons coming out of the cat's behind.
I love that look on Jayne's face. It's that overwhelmed "WHY??" look, where you know they want to smack the babies, or run away, or both, but their hormones keep them right there nursing them instead.

Yep. Now all 7 come in the master bath at bathtime. And lay around and stare.
