My mom sent me a squishy aquarium decoration in a care package for my betta fish because i mentioned my betta was acting bored. I've not bought this particular one myself because i was worried my betta might bite pieces off. Do you guys think it's safe to add to the tank? (after it's been sanitized of course)
It looks like a anemone and feels like very soft. Heres a link to a similar decoration.

I'm sorry if no one got back to you..but I myself wouldn't put it my crab tank. If it is a rubber type material the crabs could rip it up and eat it.. I bought a fake plant once and didn't realize it had a rubber coating and my crabs had started to peel it..best to stick with silk type and then till watch for the ends becoming frayed or wires poking out.

okay thanks, ill just put it next to the tank for her to look at then. Eventually i might give her some supervised playtime with it to see how she reacts, but I'm not that sure yet.

This is for the Betta, right? Not the crabs?
I was looking over some of the reviews and there are some pretty bad ones. Many say it lost color quickly, messed with the water quality, and some had fish deaths that they blamed on adding this plant. I would be wary.

Eh, I take reviews like that with a grain of salt. No one knows how to cycle an aquarium these days, and will quickly blame cloudy water (bacterial bloom) and sliminess (algae) on anything! A newly set up tank will kill fish if not managed properly in a few weeks.
That said, I wouldn't use it either, but only because the manufacturer is fake. I've used cheap plants before (99 cent stuff) from reputable stores like Fosters and Smith and That Pet Place with rave results.

.
This is true. It still would make me hesitate to use it.

I was at Wal-Mart and I saw a decoration like you were talking about..I would just put outside the tank for decorations..you can find other cheap stuff to add to it make a theme to the outside.I did for my smaller tank I had.. I had shells around it, rocks and fake plants at the corners
