Calcifer and Puck

Post by CallaLily » Mon Jun 16, 2014 9:58 am

Calcifer is getting so big! I meant to weigh him yesterday while I had him out to clean his bin.

Image

I forgot though and put him back without weighing. This is the look I got when I went to get him again.

"I'm a scary and powerful fire demon!"

 I think he's about to shed so I just let him be. Here's a pic from when I first got him in Sept 2012, he was 3 grams then (below).

Puck is now 49 grams but he refused to come out of the paper towel tube for pictures.

He was 13 grams when I got him Dec 2012.

Thank you. If you mean Calcifer, you'll notice in his baby pic that he's sitting on my fingers. He's much bigger. Last time I weighed him was months ago and I think he was 12-13 grams. Puck is much larger too but the little brat just would not come out! I'll try for pics of him later.

I'm bumping this thread because I just realized today is Calcifer's 2 year anniversary. Unfortunately I haven't taken any more recent pics than what's above. I'll try to get some new pics soon. He's not exactly cooperative. I'm not feeling well so it'll probably be a few days. I just can't believe he's been with me for 2 years! Time sure flies by. :D

They aren't prone to biting if that's what you mean by friendly. I think most would prefer to be left alone (kind of like the hermit crabs) but I've read about a few who seemed to enjoy their human more. They can be a bit flighty but with regular handling most will become used to it. Calcifer is a spazz but once you have him and hand walk him, he's ok -though he will continue to go hand from hand and try to get onto anything higher. I think that's instinct for them, to not only get away but to also get higher. Sometimes it's the top of his bin, sometimes it's my face. Puck is a bit more calm but I wouldn't say he enjoys it. Neither one seeks me out to be held or loved like a dog or cat or hamster or even the snake seems to like being held more than those two. My leopard gecko also does not seem to enjoy contact but instead almost like rolls his eyes as if to say "Fine, if you must human".
