YES! I am getting so inspired! I have a 20 gal and soon I'll start working on my 55 gal. Could you explain more about how you are doing the background?

What would you like to know? I have an forest aquarium background. I used cork bark- which I cut a slice off to make it a corner piece. I siliconed some acrylic rods to the background. The rods have holes drilled in them so that I can zip ties instead of suction cups! Image
I am then using zip ties to hold up a fun little basket I made. ImageImage
I also have some fake plants and cholla. Let me know if you have any questions!

I never thought of using acrylic rods like that... Clever! My current tank has an aquarium background and I've hung some hemp hammocks along the sides. I'd really love to make a more natural looking background for when I move to the bigger tank but I'm afraid that if I make it out of the traditional foam board covered in cement, they would pick at it too much. So I've been looking for other ideas to offer climbing opportunities and hideouts. I have hanging baskets as well and I love the thought of having zip ties do the holding, so much sturdier. I'll have to look into cork boards and see what I could do with that. Thanks!

I'll have to look for the post that had the best climbing structure ever. It was a bunch of cork rounds used to make a tree- and the top part had open moss pits. It was amazing.

Tomorrow I will be gathering the crabs that are up from the old tank and transporting them to this new one. I will get the pools and shell shop set up before I put them in. I also ordered some more mineral supplement and goodies from THCP, that should arrive Monday. I always have a bowl with minerals and worm castings in my tank. There is almost always a crab in it!

I can't wait to introduce my little guys to the new bigger tank. Especially since I am constantly worried about their care at the other location. No one will ever care for these little critters like we will.

Get ready for pictures!!

It looks awesome! I can't wait until the day I can upgrade to a 100+ gallon tank :)

Is your UTH behind the background? How does it work?!

My Indo I got from and adoption. Her name is Poseidon. Because she is a giant and rules the tank! Image

I actually got all 3 exotics from that adoption. It was a lady moving to CA and wanted to give them good homes. She actually saw my post on here in the adoption part. She lived in mass and decided to mail me the 3 exotics and threw in a few shells. She paid for everything. It was very nice of her. I think she was just glad that they were going to a home that could and would care for them properly.

I really wish I had another indo so she had a specie buddy- but I have yet to come across another adoption or a quality place to get them.

Also to answer the other question out there about my background. I have the background up and my UTH over it- then I have a tinfoil lined piece of cardboard on top of that. I find it really helps push the heat in. This is the first time Iv used the background and uth- but I don't foresee any issues. It really should just radiate through.

Also here are pics of the only three crabs that were up being introduced to the new tank :)! Image
Above is Dean, one of my violas.
Below is a pp (honestly I'm not even sure who this one is... Probably epic)

This pretty red pp is sokka.
Sadly I still have so many crabs still to bring over. I can maybe wait two weeks but I really need to get them all soon. I'm waiting on Poseidon to come up because she is the only one I don't want to mess with. But once she comes up I'm digging up the rest and moving them.
