Love the parakeet ladder w coco fibers to solve the problem of crabs falling through! Im "borrowing" that idea. Really nice, thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Found it on Pinterest!
Also put some in the wheel so he can get a better grip but hasn't quite figured it out yet. He may be too light to make it move!
I added some more netting.
Hopefully he'll start to maneuver around on his own soon.

Looking cool. Looks like a good crabby playground to me.

Saw it in the wheel as well. Kermie16 had great success with his wheel. It just took forever for his crab to figure out how to use it. He might see this and tell the story.

I've never seen fiber mat used in wheels. It could work. I use plastic canvas in my wheels. Gives them more traction IMO ;)

Looks great! I would think the coco fiber would weigh more than the plastic canvas, making it harder to turn. But, these hermit crabs are pretty strong...

They seem to enjoy crawling on the wheel but are too small to make it move. But they can hang upside down inside it. lol.

Sadly that cool wooden bird ladder on the right was moldy when I came home from a trip.
Humidity was close to 100% and it was touching their water bowl so that probably didn't help.
I took it out. Any chance of salvaging it or is it just not crabitat material?
Plastic, crotchet nets and coco fiber have fared much better in the humidity...
Not sure if you can see but in the back right corner I have a glass jar half buried with moss in it.
They loooove that.

Maybe they couldn't move the wheel because the climbing background weighs more?? I use plastic canvas in my wheels. Baby (smaller than a marble shell included) can make it move.

It's definitely possible!
Where do you get the plastic canvas?

But I don't know it's kind of cool they can hang upside down in it. lol.

OH MY GOODNESS- LOOK AT THOSE BABY CRABBIES!!! :cloud9:
Agreed on the craft mesh needed. Craft mesh can be bought at Walmart (in the craft section), Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's Fabrics. :)

Edit: With the craft mesh, I have larger crabs and with multiple crabs on the wheel they can hang upside down on it as well. :)
