Atlas lovesss boiled eggs!

Post by Freckles24 » Sun Jun 04, 2017 5:07 pm

I've only had Atlas and Laurel for about 2 weeks now and Laurel went down a week ago and my other 2 went down a few days ago. I decided I wanted to see how Atlas liked eggs and he went crazy! (Lots of pics below)ImageImageImageImageImage

I've been out of the house for about 4 hours and when I came back he was still on the egg haha

How long do you leave your boiled eggs in the tank?

The first time I left a boiled egg in the tank, one of my buddies that had been digging around for a couple weeks came up for the new dish hahaha. Must have liked what he smelled :)

Funny that you said that! Aston made an appearance to grab some egg too (he brought some down into the cave). I'll probably take it out tonight or tomorrow when I wake up. Image

Freckles: dont know if its my tank but my eggs go moldy in about 1 day-36 hours. So i pull them out. I can usually smell them long before that. The tat sits right by the sofa, so im all over it. CrabStink and I do NOT get along.

So great that he loves it so much! He's adorable. I love him.

I never like leaving any sort of eggs for more than overnight or if I put some out in the morning I'll take them out before I go to bed, so ~8-12ish hours. They get a horrible stink to them pretty quick, unfortunately.

Eggs gross me out so I've never given them to my crabs, but I should try! We have chicks so when they lay eggs when they're older, the hermies might appreciate that...

Ha! Love it! Mine are not as adventurous when the food is bigger than them (lol!) . So I dice their boiled egg and keep it in the freezer so When I'm putting out their fresh food, I sprinkle a little boiled egg on top:)

I'm trying this tonight! Thanks for the pictures! I'm new to crabs, so I've been trying different things, after I know they're safe. My guys won't eat much of the commercial hermit crab food, so I've kind of abandoned that. One of mine loved some sliced plain almonds and drug a piece down to his hiding place. I've tried strawberry and apple, but none of them mess with that. So I put some eggs on to boil just now. I gave them egg shell a couple of days ago because someone recommended that. They probably thought, "Hey, you took the good stuff out of it!"

Oh goodness! Atlas looks just like Grump! Now, if he'd quit hiding when I go get my phone to take a photo...
