Can someone help me ID these lads?

Post by Persea » Tue Aug 29, 2017 11:50 pm

After watching one of my crabs crawl around, I figured out she's a PP. The other two crabs, though, dug down and haven't shown up topside since I got them! I have a few photos of them from day 1, but I can't tell what species they are for sure. This is all I have, but hopefully someone might be able to help?

This is Cytosine. Because of his big eyes and really big pincher, plus the fact that he's bigger than both the other crabs, I thought he might be an Indo? Or maybe just a big PP! I didn't get a photo of him retracted, though.

And this is Guanine. He's....I have no idea. The only thing I can make out is that his eyes are red and kinda weird at the back? I might just have an unlucky angle. I didn't get a photo of him retracted either...

Guanine might be an E. I cant really tell but they will have the stripes on their sides and different eye shape than PP

Agreed both are PP's!

Sometimes PP's can have larger/smaller eyes of diff. colors like black or brown. The red you were seeing might be cause it was in water in that pic.
