Another Upgrade… 300 gallons!

Post by JeffCrab » Sun Dec 19, 2021 8:59 am

Hello everyone!

It seems every two years or so I get the bug to upgrade the tank. I really thought the 125g was going to be as big as my crabitat got, but here we are. I was always incredibly nervous to do a topper, but finally decided to make the leap of faith. I obtained another 125 gallon and an XL ExoTerra, and away we went. Here are some photos of the build process and then of the final product.

Fantastic! I wish I had the space to build out more of my enclosures to that scale. And I love what you did with the cork background and the cholla! I may think about doing something like that along the sides of my tank, as they're still bare glass, atm. Hmmm.

I've been slowly tracking the progress of this build on the interwebs, and I do say, I really love how it came together. I'm sure they are loving all the extra space and I love how clean/tide/minimalistic it looks!

This is super awesome. Question about your water on each side. (newbie- sorry)
I thought they would drown if there was that much water?

Nope! Crabs can be submerged for quite some time. I've seen about an hour or two.

As long as there is a way for them to climb out of deep water, they will be fine!

Wow! This is absolutely amazing! I wish I had enough room to do this. Your hermies must be loving it! I also love the background and accesories in the climbing tank tunnel.
