Video Stream - Alan's Hermit Crabs

Post by Alan'sHermitCrabs » Thu Oct 09, 2014 2:20 pm

I just set up my newest crabitat in my office. I am an elementary instrumental music teacher. My students are so excited to have hermit crabs in class. It is a 55 gallon tank with 7 new hermit crabs. They have only been in the tank for 2 days. I wanted to keep an eye on them and see what they are doing during the evening, so I set up this streaming video using my chromebook. I hope there is enough light at night. I am broadcasting live at http://ustre.am/1i0vG come and check it out!

So the custodian must have spun the music stand and now we can't see anything but my office door. Grrr ....
I will ask a coworker to spin the computer back around tomorrow. otherwise we will have to wait until next week.
Sorry :(

Go_Skiboard,

Create a free UStream account and follow the simple steps to start a stream. You will have to share the web address with all of us to see. Good Luck!

So the way I am understanding this product is once you set up a camera through whatever device you log on elsewhere or through a link like the one you posted and you can view the live feed correct?

So I set up the video stream almost every night. Apparently my daytime light did not turn off at 7:00 like it is supposed too. However, I am sitting here in my home watching one of my hermit crabs try on shells. SO COOL! I will have to set the webcam to only show this area and see what we see.

This is amazing! Are the monthly membership fees reasonable to do this?

Entirely free for the low quality version I use. I discovered this site last year and use it to stream our concerts into the library for parents with young children.

All you need to do is set up an account, hook up a webcam enabled computer, start broadcasting, and share the link for others to watch.

I turn on my UStream before leaving each afternoon and turn it off during the school day for privacy purposes.
