Woody Molted

Post by aldebaron0626 » Sat Jan 17, 2015 7:51 pm

The crab I adopted last month came up today freshly molted, after almost exactly one month under. I heard scratching around yesterday and started looking for clues that he was coming up. I also put more PB and Honey in with the food. Now if he'll just chuck the painted shell for one of the 10 in ISO with him.

Woody was kept in a hamster cage like "crab cage" in 1" dry coconut fiber sub, sponge for water, and "crab cake" food.
Freshly Molted.

Other than the amount of "hair" and new nails, he doesn't look like he grew much. His shell is definitely decomposing.

I'm so glad that you two found each other, and he looks great! Congratulations on his first molt with you; may there be many more! :)

Looks like I need some larger shells. That's the largest I have and it's a heavy magpie even though it looks green.

I put him in the main tank and he's wearing a pink murex now, I think. Getting his pal and hopefully the larger tank on Tuesday.

He looks really good out of that old crummy painted shell! :) Glad he decided to change!
