Toby is coming up from his molt! (I think )

Post by me n my hermikids » Sun Oct 25, 2015 6:49 am

Toby has been all the way on the bottom since mid September, presumably molting. This morning I saw him part of the way up the substrate. I am so excited to see him! I cant wait till he surfaces so i can see how handsome he looks. :cheer:

Wow, cool picture!

You really can never know if he is finished molting, you should cover that area of the glass w/ opaque tape or paper to prevent bothering him during molting. They need dark to molt. My crab parted te substrate about a month ago, and I thought he was done molting (he was digging around). It has been a month since then w/ no sign of him. I recommend covering the glass, just in case, he might have a bit to go, whether recovery or finishing molting. :) Good luck!

Well I was going to put a postit note over him but he kept on trailing and now he is on the side where its already covered so no worries. Thanks for the advice, though. Good to know 4 next time.

One thing I did was cut a pc. of window tint to fit the tank and substrate level. It stays on and just peels right off.It comes in a roll.
